FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a fatal early-morning shooting that claimed one life Sunday in Fort Myers Beach, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 1:30 a.m. to the 400 block of Madison Court after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, law enforcement found one individual deceased at the scene. The victim was pronounced dead before being transported.
Officials confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public, and the area was quickly secured as investigators began processing the scene. Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit have taken over the investigation and are working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
At this time, no suspect information has been released, and the identity of the victim has not yet been made public, pending notification of next of kin.
