Virginia State Police are searching for a 19-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon along Interstate 85.
At approximately 3:47 p.m. on August 28, troopers responded to reports of a shooting on I-85 northbound at mile marker 5. Upon arrival, officers located a Honda Civic that had veered off the roadway and come to rest in a culvert. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Hunter Bates, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
On Friday, investigators identified the suspect as Jason Allen Glidewell II, 19, of Bracey, Virginia. Glidewell is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities believe Glidewell may be driving a silver 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche with Virginia license plate TFN 1004. He is known to have ties to both Richmond and Henrico County.
Warrants have been issued for Glidewell on charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
