Delano, California – The Delano community is mourning the tragic loss of Andru Luque Felix, 19, who passed away early Thursday morning following a devastating crash on Woollomes Avenue, west of Wallace Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred around 12:28 a.m. when a 21-year-old man driving a black Acura lost control at high speed, veering off the road and striking multiple poles before overturning.
Andru, who was seated in the front passenger seat, suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was also ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead. A 19-year-old female passenger seated in the rear sustained moderate to major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash and have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved. Both directions of Woollomes Avenue were closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage and gather evidence.
Andru Luque Felix will be remembered as a bright, kind-hearted young man whose life was filled with promise.
