It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of Cory Walker, 41, of Westminster Station, Vermont, who drowned in the Connecticut River in Westmoreland, New Hampshire, on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
According to the New Hampshire State Police, first responders were called to Ferry Road around 11:15 a.m. after reports of a missing man. Upon arrival, they discovered Cory’s body in the river near a capsized canoe anchored close to shore. Investigators say Cory was known to spend time camping and sleeping along the river, a place he deeply loved and often found peace.
An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Cory’s death was an accidental drowning. While the circumstances leading to the canoe’s capsizing remain under investigation, officials do not believe foul play was involved.
Cory will be remembered as a kind-hearted, adventurous soul who cherished the outdoors and the quiet beauty of nature. Friends and family describe him as gentle, reflective, and always ready to lend a helping hand. His presence brought comfort and calm to those who knew him best.
The New Hampshire Marine Patrol continues to investigate and encourages anyone with information to contact Sgt. Nicholas Haroutunian at (603) 227-2112 or Nicholas.M.Haroutunian@dos.nh.gov.
Cory’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones. May he rest peacefully by the river he called home.
