It is with profound sadness that the Findlay community mourns the untimely passing of 22-year-old Jason Alford, who tragically lost his life in a vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon, October 22, 2025, along U.S. Highway 224 in Blanchard Township, Hancock County.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred just before 5 p.m. near Township Road 123. Jason was driving westbound when his vehicle, for reasons still under investigation, moved into the eastbound lanes, sideswiping one car before colliding head-on with another driven by a 63-year-old man from Alabama. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but despite their best efforts, Jason was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Authorities closed the highway for several hours as they conducted a detailed crash reconstruction. Investigators confirmed that weather and visibility were normal at the time and that there were no immediate indications of impairment or excessive speed.
