The Tulsa community is grieving the tragic and heartbreaking loss of Jayme Platt, a cherished woman whose life ended far too soon in a devastating crash on Highway 75 near 56th Street North. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, and all who knew her in deep sorrow as they try to make sense of a tragedy that unfolded quietly in the night.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Jayme was traveling northbound in a construction zone on Highway 75 when the crash occurred. Reports indicate that she drove around barricades marking a lane closure and entered the active construction area. In the darkness, her vehicle struck a piece of construction equipment, an impact that caused severe damage to the top of her car and inflicted injuries that would ultimately prove fatal. After the collision, the vehicle continued forward for approximately 170 feet before dropping through an open section of the bridge inside the work zone.
The crash went unnoticed overnight until construction crews arrived in the early morning hours and discovered the wreckage. Lieutenant Mark Southall of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol spoke about the difficult scene and the ongoing investigation:
“This happened overnight. When the crews came to work this morning, they located the crashed vehicle and that’s when they notified us of the crash. We’re looking into how the crash occurred, when the crash occurred. There’s a lot of unknowns here and our investigators are just really getting started on the investigation.”
While details of the crash continue to be pieced together, one truth remains firmly felt—a life has been lost, and a loved one will never return home.
Jayme Platt was more than a name in a report. She was a daughter, a friend, a loved one, and a deeply valued part of the lives she touched. Those who knew Jayme remember her as someone with a warm heart, a caring spirit, and a presence that made others feel seen and understood. Whether sharing a laugh, offering support, or simply spending time with the people she loved, Jayme brought sincerity and genuine compassion into every part of her life.
Her passing has left an emptiness that words can barely describe. The suddenness of the tragedy, the unanswered questions, and the heartbreaking realization that her voice, her smile, and her energy are gone amplify the pain for those closest to her. Yet, even in the midst of grief, her loved ones hold tight to the memories that defined who Jayme truly was—strong, thoughtful, loving, and uniquely kind.
As investigators work to understand the final moments before the crash, her family and community focus instead on the life she lived: a life that mattered deeply and a life that will never be forgotten.
To her family and friends, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. May you find comfort in the memories of Jayme’s laughter, her warmth, and the moments shared that will forever remain in your hearts.
In loving memory of Jayme Platt —
Gone far too soon, but remembered always.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her loved ones find strength in the days ahead.
