It is with deep sorrow and shared heartbreak that we mourn the tragic passing of 59-year-old Tonya Mayers Bowers, of Chapin, South Carolina, who lost her life in a pedestrian accident on Friday night, October 10, 2025, in Lexington County.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on Mountain Drive, west of Chapin, when Tonya was struck by a 2023 Kia SUV traveling east. Despite immediate emergency response efforts, she was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on-site and was not injured.
Tonya’s passing has left her family, friends, and community in profound grief. She will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her. Tonya was a devoted friend and family member who touched countless lives through her compassion and gentle spirit.
As the South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate, loved ones are left cherishing the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Though gone far too soon, Tonya’s light will continue to shine through those who loved her most.
