The St. Francis County community is grappling with the tragic loss of two lives in less than 24 hours, according to the St. Francis County Coroner’s Office.
The first fatality was reported at a home on Mann Street, where authorities discovered a woman deceased under circumstances still under investigation. Coroner Miles J. Kimble expressed his condolences to the family, saying, “I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the family during this tragic and heartbreaking time. Losing a loved one in this manner is devastating, and our office stands with the family as they walk through this very difficult moment.”
The community’s sorrow deepened less than a day later, when Forrest City officers responded to reports of an unresponsive man inside a vehicle in the early hours of the morning. The victim, identified as James Hubbard, was pronounced dead at approximately 4:15 a.m. Preliminary findings from the coroner’s office indicate that Hubbard sustained a gunshot wound.
Both cases remain active investigations led by the Forrest City Police Department. Authorities have urged anyone with information about either incident to come forward, noting that public tips are crucial to understanding the circumstances surrounding these tragic events.
Local residents have expressed shock and grief over the sudden string of violence in their community. Neighbors and friends described the victims as individuals whose lives impacted those around them, and whose loss will be deeply felt throughout Forrest City. Social media posts and conversations across the city have reflected the sense of heartbreak, with many urging for community support and unity in the wake of the tragedies.
Coroner Kimble and law enforcement officials have also emphasized the importance of supporting the families during this time, encouraging anyone affected to seek assistance from community resources. The office reminds residents that grief is a process and that the community can come together to provide comfort to those most impacted.
