KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A suspect arrested after a Sept. 20 shooting at Two Fellas Grill has been arraigned on 25 charges, according to court documents obtained by News factmatter, Naledge Quincy Lovon Williams Chamberlain, 19, was arrested in St. Paul, Minnesota on a 25-count felony warrant Nov. 19.
He has since been extradited back to Michigan, and as of Tuesday, faces the following charges in Kalamazoo County:
Five counts of assault with intent to murder
12 counts of felony firearm
Five counts of firearm discharged in/at a building causing injury
Firearm discharged in/at a building
Carrying a weapon with unlawful intent
Carrying a concealed weapon
Chamberlain was arrested nearly two months after a fight and a shooting happened at Two Fellas Grill on Sept. 20.
Of those injured, four were shot and the fifth person was hit by shrapnel. Officers said all injuries were minor and not life threatening.
After working with Michigan State Police Fifth District Fugitive and Technical Services team, detectives with KDPS learned that Chamberlain left the state.
The St. Paul Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and SWAT Team then arrested Chamberlain following a search warrant.
“This is another example of when you choose to pick up a gun and be a shooter in our community, we will use every tool available,” KDPS Chief David Boysen said Nov. 19. “We will leverage every partnership and resource to make sure you are held responsible. This was a coordinated effort from agencies who refused to let Chamberlain disappear.”
In addition to Chamberlain, two others have been arrested since that shooting.
However, those individuals have not been identified as the shooter, and their charges were unrelated to the Sept. 20 incident. two Fellas Grill told News Channel 3 in a Sept. 25 interview they had contacted KDPS in the weeks leading up to the shooting, requesting an increase of officers in the area as students would be back in town for the fall semester.
That night, restaurant owners previously said they’d started seeing cars pulling into the parking lot, but they weren’t customers.
“…They just start partying in our parking lot. There’s bottles being smashed on the ground, there’s people doing drugs,” an owner said.
Following the shooting, Two Fellas Grill increased their security measures, and an additional five KDPS officers patrolled the area on weekend nights.
