The Leesburg community is grieving the sudden loss of Scott Christley, longtime owner of SkateWorld and a beloved figure to generations of local families.

News of his passing was shared by his family in a social-media post, describing him as a devoted husband, father, and community leader whose kindness and strength touched countless lives. His daughter wrote, “He was the perfect example of a leader—strong, kind, and steady—and his spirit will forever be with me. The love my dad showed my momma gave me a true vision of what ‘til death do us part’ really means.”
SkateWorld, a community staple for decades, announced it would be closed Thursday to allow family and staff to grieve and honor Scott’s memory. Under his leadership, the rink became more than just a place to skate—it was a gathering place for families, youth groups, birthday celebrations, school nights, and charity events. Locals credit Scott for fostering a safe, family-friendly environment where kids could have fun, build friendships, and feel welcomed.
Friends remembered Scott as approachable and generous, often greeting visitors with a smile and making everyone feel at home. The Leesburg Class of 1979 posted, “We have lost a great friend and classmate, Scott Christley. His family provides so much fun for many Leesburg people with SkateWorld. Pray for his family.”
Scott’s passing has left a significant void in Leesburg’s small-business community, where he was admired as much for his devotion to family and faith as for his commitment to his business. His family said they are surrounded by loved ones during this heartbreaking time and asked for patience and prayers as they navigate their loss.
They added, “Sometimes we question why, and sometimes the Lord whispers, ‘It’s not my plan.’ We’re holding onto the peace of knowing he is now resting with the Lord.”
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
