Police are actively searching for a suspect after a violent stabbing Tuesday evening in the Rockville section of Vernon left a man seriously injured.
The incident was first reported around 4:40 p.m. near Prospect Street and Ward Street, where a wounded man was found outside suffering from multiple stab injuries. According to early reports, the victim sustained stab wounds to the chest, leg, and eye before managing to make his way out of the residence to the street.
Attack Occurred Inside Home
Vernon Police Department spokesman Capt. Robert Marra confirmed that the stabbing occurred inside a home on the 100 block of Prospect Street shortly before 5:30 p.m. The suspect fled the residence immediately afterward and remained at large as of Tuesday night.
Victim Airlifted in Serious Condition
The victim, a man in his 40s, was transported to Rockville General Hospital, where medical staff stabilized him. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was then airlifted from the hospital’s helipad to a trauma center in Hartford.
Police said the victim’s condition is serious, and detectives continue working to determine the motive and circumstances leading up to the attack.
Investigation Ongoing
Officers and investigators were expected to remain on scene well into the night, processing evidence and canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses or security footage. Streets in the immediate area were temporarily restricted as part of the investigation.
