A homicide investigation is underway after a 61-year-old man was fatally shot inside a Rialto home late Monday night.
Rialto police and paramedics responded to a shooting call around 10:10 p.m. at a residence in the 3400 block of North Grapewood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the head and upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say preliminary information indicates a brief argument occurred between the victim and the suspect shortly before the shooting. Police identified the suspect as 54-year-old Eric Anthony Ransom, who later turned himself in to law enforcement and admitted responsibility for the shooting.
Authorities have not disclosed the relationship between the two men but emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Ransom has been booked on murder charges and is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center.
