The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that occurred early Thursday morning in Dimmit County.
According to DPS, the crash happened at about 5:57 a.m. on August 28, 2025, at mile marker 438 on U.S. Highway 277 and FM 191, roughly 18 miles west of Carrizo Springs.
Preliminary findings show that a 2017 gray Kia Sorrento was traveling eastbound when the driver failed to navigate a curve, crossed the center strip, and entered the westbound lane. The Kia collided head-on with a 2023 white Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling westbound.
The driver of the Kia, 25-year-old Oscar Rodriguez III of Eagle Pass, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
