Paola, Kansas – The community of Paola is mourning the loss of 46-year-old John Hunter Slayman, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
According to authorities, the crash occurred on U.S. Highway 69 when Slayman’s motorcycle experienced a tire malfunction, causing him to lose control of the bike. Despite immediate efforts by first responders, Slayman was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
John was known throughout Paola for his warm personality, hard work, and love for life on the open road. Friends and family describe him as a devoted father, loyal friend, and a man with an adventurous spirit who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His love for motorcycles was matched only by his passion for spending time with those he cared about most.
