A person died Monday after an emergency response to a report of a distressed individual on the Ross Island Bridge, authorities said.
Portland police and firefighters were called to the bridge on Nov. 24 following reports of a person in crisis. When first responders arrived, they located the individual and confirmed the person had died. Officials described the case as an apparent suicide.
The Ross Island Bridge was closed in both directions while crews worked at the scene. Traffic in the area was diverted for an extended period as police and medical personnel responded to the emergency.
Authorities have not released the identity of the individual. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said no further details are available at this time. READ more about the INDIVIDUAL INVOLVED HERE.
