ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two men connected to a triple shooting that killed one person on Hazelwood Terrace have been found guilty.
Nasezire Horton, 22, and Quentin Riviere, 22, were convicted of second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Riviere was also convicted of an additional count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree for a separate but related shooting on August 1, 2024, in a grocery store parking lot.
According to Assistant District Attorney Anthony Freeman: “On the evening of August 12, 2024, Nasezire Horton and Quentin Riviere opened fire on teenagers walking down the street, killing a young woman who was hit in the crossfire and nearly taking the lives of two boys.”
As Freeman said, at around 5:00 p.m., RPD responded to Hazelwood Terrace near Denver Street for a report of shots fired. They located 3 people shot: 19-year-old Rukia Issack, a 16-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old boy. All were taken to the URMC, where Issack died of her injuries. The two male victims eventually recovered.
Freeman adds, “Not only did neither defendant show sorrow for killing Rukia Issack, who was an innocent bystander, but they risked the lives of everyone in the neighborhood on a warm summer day. Both defendants were on Parole during this murder, showing a pattern of violence and disregard for the rule of law.”
The investigation revealed that the two defendants were wearing their Parole-issued GPS monitors at the time of the shooting. It was also determined that this was a targeted shooting, although Rukia Issack was not the target.
Three days after the shooting, Horton and Riviere were arrested at a house on Edmonds Street, where they were in possession of illegal narcotics.
Monroe County District Attorney Brian Green said, “Rukia Issack was a mother, a daughter, a friend… a young woman with her entire life ahead of her.”
