SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The Springfield Police Department arrested one person connected to the death of a person found in a dumpster outside an apartment complex, Police identified the victim as Delquan Scott, 21, of Springfield. Police named the suspect as Deandre Jonas, 23, of Springfield. He faces no formal charges. Police say the two knew each other.
Officers responded to the Old Monterrey Apartments around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday for a reported shooting. The complex is located in the 3100 block of South Jefferson.
SWAT officers surrounded the apartment at one point this morning with guns drawn. Officers were able to make contact with Jonas inside, who eventually came out and was taken into custody. Officers say they then found Scott’s body inside the dumpster.
“I can’t say anything right now to that just because it’s still early on,” said Lt. Brandon Penrose, Springfield Police Department.“ You can see behind me that there’s a lot of detectives still there that are going through all that.”
