Around 9:50 a.m. that morning, Springfield Police officers arrived at a home in the 1400 block of State Street following a call about a possible stabbing. When officers entered the residence, they were confronted with a grim and deeply troubling scene. Three adults—two men and one woman—were found dead inside. The nature of their injuries immediately prompted a major investigation and drew the attention of homicide detectives and prosecutors.
Officials identified the two victims as 67-year-old Khamkieo Chingvacha of Springfield and 47-year-old Sachivanh Phomphanh of West Hartford, Connecticut. Both were believed to have been fatally stabbed during the incident. The third individual, 43-year-old Kung Kedjumnong, also of West Hartford, has been identified as the person responsible for the killings before taking his own life.
