The community is heartbroken after 37-year-old Amie Barnes, a devoted mum of three and a respected midwife in Blackpool and Preston, was tragically found dead following an accidental overdose of painkillers she had been taking to manage severe back pain.
Amie had spent the evening at her boyfriend Jack’s home, where the pair shared a quiet night together with dinner and a bottle of wine before going to bed. The next morning, Jack left early for work after saying goodbye — but when he returned, he discovered Amie lying face down in bed, unresponsive.
A post-mortem CT scan found no natural cause of death, but toxicology results revealed that Amie had consumed multiple painkillers prior to her passing. According to her GP, she had visited the surgery several times over the seven months leading up to her death, seeking help for chronic back pain while awaiting spinal surgery at Salford Royal Hospital.
Amie leaves behind three children — ages 19, 12, and 7 — along with heartbroken family members who are now grieving an unimaginable loss.
Her loved ones remember her as a caring mother, a dedicated midwife, and a woman who brought compassion to every life she touched.
May Amie Barnes rest in peace.
Gone too soon, but forever loved.
