Concord police are investigating after two people were found dead in separate vehicles Friday afternoon in the parking lot of the Walmart on Loudon Road. Authorities say it is too early to determine whether the cases are connected, though investigators are exploring the possibility of a murder–suicide.
Just before 1:30 p.m., dispatchers received a call reporting an unresponsive man inside a Subaru parked near a storage container on the outer edge of the lot. The caller told dispatch they believed the body may have been there for some time.
Multiple officers and Concord Fire and Rescue crews responded. The first officer on scene confirmed that the man inside the Subaru Impreza was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. A firearm was found in the man’s hand, according to radio transmissions. The vehicle carried New Hampshire registration.
After firefighters confirmed the man was dead, police sealed off the area with yellow tape and began speaking with Walmart employees and individuals associated with the storage container nearby.
A short time later, an officer checking vehicles in the vicinity ran the plate of a Jeep with Massachusetts registration and reported that it also appeared to contain a deceased individual. Officers and firefighters worked to access the vehicle, and Concord EMTs were called back to the scene.
Authorities have not yet released any details about the identity of either person or the cause of death of the individual found in the Jeep. Police have also not stated whether the two deaths are connected, though investigators were treating the situation as two unattended deaths pending further examination.
The scene remained cordoned off for hours Friday as detectives processed both vehicles and interviewed witnesses.
